Legal notice

PubliƩ le 29 August 2024

The legal notice refers to mandatory information that website or mobile application publishers must provide to inform users about the identity of the individuals or entities responsible for the publication and management of these platforms. It is an essential legal framework in the digital world, particularly to ensure transparency and protect users’ rights.

This information includes the company’s legal name or the name of the individual responsible for the publication, their full contact details (address, phone number, email), the registration number in the Companies Register if it is a company, the VAT identification number if applicable and the contact details of the website host.
Furthermore, if the website or application is subject to specific professional regulations (e.g. medical, legal or financial sites), additional information must be provided such as references to professional rules and the name of the regulatory authority.

The legal notice must be easily accessible to all users, typically via a direct link visible on all pages of the website or application, usually in the footer. Failure to comply with the obligation to provide this information can result in criminal and administrative penalties. This information contributes to user trust and provides a form of assurance regarding the legitimacy of website operators and their compliance with applicable laws. The purpose is to protect consumers and regulate the digital space.
