Saudi Arabia joined the Hague System, bringing the number of countries covered by this WIPO-managed international design protection scheme to 99. Saudi Arabia becomes the 76th contracting party to this Act and the 82nd member of the Hague Union. The Act will enter into force in the country on April 7, 2025.

This marks a step forward for the Middle East’s leading economy in its commitment to innovation and paves the way for wider adoption of the system in the region. From April 7, 2025:

  • Non-Saudi residents will benefit from simplified protection for their creations in Saudi Arabia, which may facilitate their expansion in the Middle East.
  • Saudi designers and companies will be able to protect their designs in 99 countries thanks to a single international application.
